EMetric definitionswhat each number on this page means
Total distance (TD)
How far the player travelled, in metres. Built up from STATSports' filtered speed, 10 times a second. TD/min is the same distance divided by minutes on the pitch, so players with different minutes can be compared fairly.
High-speed running (HSR)
Metres covered while running faster than 5.5 m/s (19.8 km/h), roughly a hard stride. Sprint distance is included in this figure.
Sprint distance
Metres covered faster than 7 m/s (25.2 km/h), i.e. near-maximal running. Usually small numbers that vary a lot game to game, so compare them against the player's own history.
Total acceleration load (TAL)
How much a player changes speed, speeding up and slowing down, regardless of how far they go. It adds up every change in speed between readings (Σ|Δv|, after Schelling et al., 2025), in m·s⁻¹. TAL/min ÷ 60 gives the average acceleration in m·s⁻². High TAL with modest distance = lots of stop-start, contact and turning.
Max speed
The fastest filtered speed reached in the selected period, in m/s (× 3.6 for km/h). Readings above 10.5 m/s are treated as GPS errors and ignored.
Most demanding scenario (MDS)
The hardest spell of the game for a given window length (1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 min), expressed per minute. For example "MDS 3′ TD = 150 m/min" means the busiest 3 minutes averaged 150 m per minute. It is never counted across half-time. Useful for setting the intensity of conditioning drills.
Minutes & periods
Minutes = time the unit recorded the player in the chosen period. Halves come from the "1st Half" / "2nd Half" markers in the STATSports export; "full game" is both halves, excluding warm-up and half-time. Training can be viewed as a whole session or drill by drill.
Benchmark
The comparison line and the ± % tags. It is the season average per minute for the same kind of session (senior, reserve or training) and the same period, for the group you choose: the player themselves, the squad, their position, or their playing group.
Squad average
With no player selected, figures are the average of the players who recorded in that session. On the timeline it is the average across players present in each 10-second slice. Players are shown as codes (P01, P02…) to keep the data anonymous.
